Joining NNM for the World Premiere of See Your Shadow: 12/7/24, Philly

On December 7, 2024 at 7:30 PM at Settlement Music School‘s Germantown Branch in Philly, I’ll be joining my eminent colleagues in Network for New Music to perform one of the most moving and meaningful pieces I’ve ever commissioned: Nick DiBerardino‘s epic “See Your Shadow” for solo tenor sax, tape, and video.

I recorded the piece during the pandemic for XAS Records, but this will be its world premiere!

Nick’s music resonates deeply. He’s enormously talented with serious technical chops, but I most admire his capacity to linger in moments of serene beauty, to capture the humanity of his subjects, in this case, my little Mae, whose words and vocalizing are sprinkled throughout the work. She’s now nearly 6 years old, but Nick created a poignant setting of a time in her life when shadows were mysterious companions. “See Your Shadows” is a work I will always treasure. THANK YOU NICK!
